Morning Explore the City on your own

Your activity Start in the Evening

Tour Highlights

Day one begins with collection from your Reykjavik location at around 21:30 (although the exact time is dependent on the time of year that you go, please check the itinerary that we send you). Please note that collection can take up to thirty minutes depending on where you are located. From there you will board one of our specialized super jeeps and head out, far away from the bright city lights, into the darkness of the Icelandic wilderness. The great thing about the super jeeps is that they can go where normal cars and buses cannot, offering more opportunities to see the Aurora Borealis. Northern Lights tours always involve a leap into the unknown, with our expert guides taking weather, cloud and aurora forecasts into account, to ensure that we maximize our chances of seeing them. However, the mystery and adventure involved in finding them only enhances their charm and when they illuminate the isolated darkness of the countryside, there really isn’t anything better. The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are an otherworldly phenomenon, which is truly unlike anything else that you can see. They are formed by rippling, flickering waves of color, which dance across the night sky and include emerald greens, ruby reds, deep purples, milky yellows and a whole lot more. Seeing them is a life-altering experience, which will provide a new perspective on the sheer magnificence of nature: something that everyone should see, and an experience, which will remain with you for the rest of your life. Once you have gazed at the magical light show in the heavens, we will bring you back down to earth, with some warming hot chocolate, or Brennavin, the famous Icelandic liquor, after which we will head back to Reykjavik. Please remember that Northern Lights tours, may involve spending long periods of time, outside in freezing temperatures: it is impossible to wear too many clothes. On the bright side, the colder the weather, the brighter the lights, as the frost particles give them more effervescence! Please note, that it is impossible for us to guarantee that you will see the Northern Lights, even if all factors seem to point in that direction, we may have to cancel tours, if the weather or other conditions are unsuitable.

Reykjavik – Golden Circle, Super Jeep & Snowmobile Adventure

Day two begins bright and early, at 8:30 am, with collection from your Reykjavik accommodation. Please note that this process can last up to thirty minutes depending on your location. Then once everyone is gathered together, we will take the scenic route to Thingvellir National Park.

Tour Highlights

Thingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, steeped in historical, cultural and geographical significance. It is the site of Iceland’s first parliament, Althingi, where a group of nobles met in 930 AD, making it the oldest continuously running parliament that is still in operation in the world. It is also crammed with geological wonders, including the gap between the European and North American tectonic plates, which runs right through its heart, and means that visitors can gaze across the gap between two continents. Thingvellir, is also, host to a vast array of fascinating rock formations, rich green vegetation, sapphire blue lagoons and much, much more, making it a place that every visitor to Iceland should see. From there we will travel to the iconic Geysir geothermal area, which houses the geysers, which make Iceland so famous.

Foremost of these is Strokkur a bubbling, seething spring, which violently throws torrents of molten water into the air every 5 to 10 minutes. You will also see the larger Geysir, which gives all geysers their English name. Our penultimate stop will be the Gullfoss waterfall (the Golden Falls), so named because of the golden hue that the water which cascades through it takes. It is a truly regal sight, a roaring powerful waterfall, set to a luscious green background, which is truly one of Iceland’s wonders. The ideal spot to snap a picture or simply reflect on the glory of nature. After that you will have the opportunity to have some lunch at the Gullfoss café before we head off to the Langjökull glacier.

At Langjökull, you will go on an adrenaline-pumping snowmobiling adventure on a glacial wonderland, riddled with crevices, ice-sculptures, and volcanic craters. The surrounding area is equally stunning, encompassing several huge mountains, capricious volcanos and a vast array of other things too numerous to list in detail here.

Our specialist snowmobiling guides, will equip you with everything that you need, and give you some safety instructions before we head out as a group onto the pristine snows of Langjökull. There is nothing like gliding across the pristine snows of a glacier, an adrenaline-pumping ride, which blends stunning natural beauty and plenty of fun.

Once this magical glacial tour has ended, we will return to Reykjavik and should arrive back around 18:30. Please remember to bring plenty of warm clothing, including a weatherproof top layer, headwear, gloves, scarves and good hiking shoes. It is also important that everyone who wants to drive one of the snowmobiles brings a valid

Reykjavik – Glacier Hiking & Ice Climbing on Sólheimajökull

Day three begins bright and early at 8:00 am, with pick-up from your Reykjavik accommodation. Please note that pick-up can last up to thirty minutes, depending on where you are based.

Tour Highlights

Then once everyone has been collected, we will head off to the incredible frozen world of the Sólheimajökull glacier: an ancient body of constantly evolving frozen water, which extends out of the largest glacier in Europe. It is a rugged and raw terrain, riddled with icy ledges, craggy rock crevices and a host of incredible sculptures crafted by mothernature. Our professional glacier guides will help you explore this otherworldly landscape, while also giving you an insight into how glaciers have evolved through the ages. It is a serene, tranquil and beautiful place, where you can actually hear the creaking of the ice as it moves. There is also the opportunity to try ice-climbing for those who are interested, with our friendly experts providing all the equipment that you need, including ice axes, crampons, and safety lines.

Then on our way back to Reykjavik, we will stop off at the Skogafoss waterfall, where a cascading stream of icy blue glacial water plunges into a pool 60 meters below. There are 527 steps, which wind their way to the top of the cliff, which provides stunning views across the waterfall and surrounding area. It is an idyllic setting, which will offer a profound new perspective on the majesty of nature.

Reykjavik – Blue Lagoon

We provide a number of different departure times to the Blue Lagoon, allowing you to explore the magic that the Blue Lagoon has to offer, on your own terms.

The Blue Lagoon is a large lake which combines temperate warm waters, with gorgeous natural scenery and nutrient-rich waters, to form the world’s greatest natural spa. The second we arrive, you will be struck by its stunning beauty and magical, milky turquoise blue waters, surrounded by dark volcanic, moss-covered rocks, a stark contrast that will take your breath away. The water is warm (39°C) transporting you into a world of luxury rest and relaxation. After the Blue Lagoon, you will be free to explore everything that Reykjavik has to offer, including fascinating museums, rustic coffee houses, and wonderful galleries. Harpa, the iconic glass concert hall, is well-worth a visit, as is the shopping street Laugavegur, and Skólavörðustígur, famous for its unique white church. Whatever you decide to do, Reykjavik is a magical city, the ideal finish to a wonderful four days.
